Some Good Commentary Series and Individual Commentaries to Consider
Glenn Giles, PhD
There are a plethora of commentaries, many that are really pretty good.
Note that the first 10 below are pretty good conservative commentary series. But when you buy a series you will have some good commentaries on some books of the Bible but less good on other books of the Bible.
To get the best commentaries on each book of the Bible, it is better to buy particular commentaries on particular books rather than a commentary series. To do this you might want to consider the URLs on numbers 11 and 12 below. These list commentaries that have been evaluated by scholars and rated. These lists are not exhaustive. Do some research and ask your professors what they suggest to determine which commentary you should buy.
Also, note that some commentaries use the original languages a lot. So if you do not know Greek and Hebrew they might be a bit difficult.
